My Plea:
On Friday 6th October 2017 at 8am my life changed forever!! “I’m sorry there’s is no heart beat” these are the worst words anyone can ever receive and they will haunt me for the rest of my days!
Belles was born very silently at 430pm at 34 weeks 6days due to placenta abruption. We had a short 24 hours with her in the hospital before I went home…leaving the hospital (where 5 years previous I had Jessica), without a baby and leaving her there alone was just another heart wrenching part of this nightmare!
After being at home for a couple of days taking it easy and remembering my body had been through child birth including a platelet transfusion, I was told to take it easy. But I didn’t want to upset Jessica anymore she was already devastated I didn’t bring her little sister home so wanted to cheer her up! Me my mum, my cousin and her daughter went to the local fair, I bumped into several people (being a small town everyone knows everyone) and not a single person could talk to me, they looked at my belly then walked away! Everyone knew we had lost Belle because we informed everyone on social media!
I’d walk down the street and people would cross the road! People on the school run wouldn’t talk to me and even avoided eye contact then message me after saying “sorry didn’t speak didn’t know what to say” I stopped myself replying as I just wanted people to be normal with me!
For some reason this gave me the biggest boost in life to make a difference! I wanted people to just talk to me, I wanted other people who had been through it to be spoken to like a normal person, it’s not contagious, yes we will probably cry, or maybe just ignore you but all you have to say is hello!!
Here’s is what I have achieved so far, sorry I may have forgotten a couple things hard to keep up with myself!!
In December 2017 me and a group of friends crocheted a giant hat in memory of Belle and for people to attach message memory’s of loved one.
May 2018 me and my step dad abseiled Yeovil hospital to raise money for their bereavement group. A group of us also took part in a truck pull to raise awareness and #TeamBelle was created, and we did a cake sale for sands.
August 2018 me and a couple of friends took on then task of 20 mile 20 obstacle tough mudder.
October 2018 me and a group of people made Pom Poms and yarn bombed chard town to raise awareness of babyloss. We also held a charity ball and raised £5000
May 2019 Devon Truck Show and friends organised a banger race #Teambelle
August 2019 me and my husband organised a massive sold out charity football match, arsenal charity vs single yellow rose charity. We held a minutes silence to remember all the babies who can’t be with us.
I have also done several collection days at local supermarkets raising money and awareness for Tommy’s, sands and Single Yellow Rose! The collection days was my way of people not being able to avoid me and even just a smile and a quick wave was acknowledgment and raising awareness.
Breaking the silence of babyloss is so close to my heart and I will do my absolute all to raise as much awareness as possible!
What Others Have Said
Daisy and her husband Lee have spent the last 18 months getting the Single Yellow Rose charity up and running to raise awareness of miscarriage/ still born and infant loss. They support local organisations to help support people going through these situations and have done all this whilst coping with the loss of their own child.
